The Winner: Reinvigorating bus services - Darlington Council
The Mission: to arrest decline in bus use. Method: a simplified network with higher frequencies on key routes and new links to improve accessibility; £10m on infrastructure improvements like bus priority at key junctions to improve bus punctuality; Arriva’s £5m on 31 new buses; major sustained marketing campaign. The Result: fare paying patronage is now increasing.
