![]() | The Film Distributors’ Association (FDA) has arranged the largest shipment of night vision devices ever supplied to UK cinemas. In all 1,200 sets of Nightforce monocular devices were delivered with batteries, coinciding with the releases of Quantum of Solace and High School Musical 3. Funded by FDA on behalf of film distributors, the night vision equipment forms a key part of an on-going autumn campaign designed to help deter camcording in UK cinemas. Working in partnership with FACT, the campaign includes increased rewards for exhibitors, timely vulnerable release alerts and front-of-house display material notifying customers that security checks will be in operation. The light-weight Nightforce devices have five-times image magnification and an infra-red illuminator to brighten the electronic image. FDA chief executive, Mark Batey said: “We would ask exhibitors to keep these night vision devices on site and to deploy them as much as possible on very vulnerable dates in the release calendar.” www.fightfilmtheft.org.uk | ![]() | |||||||||||
