The 2-day Summit showcasing successful UK projects:

New funding - Ambitions, Next Steps and Mobilisation:

The Sustainable Transport and Health Summit 2017

Sustainable transport and health are at the top of the policy agenda, with both funding and political will to drive positive change.

The Government recognises the important role of transport in building healthy places where people want to work and live.

It's committed to supporting sustainable travel initiatives which:

Support the local economy; boost activity levels and cut carbon emissions

Background

The Sustainable Transport and Health Summit 2017 will showcase the quality sustainable travel infrastructure and behaviour change initiatives that are incentivising active travel choices

It will show how local authorities, practitioners and communities are making the most of significant new opportunities for closer collaboration between transport planning, public health and regeneration professionals in order to: Improve health; Deliver economic growth; Benefit the environment and influence greater uptake in active travel.

In his 2015 Autumn Statement, the Chancellor announced £580 million (£80 million revenue and £500 million capital) for sustainable travel. The Access Fund was launched in July 2016 and will come on-stream in 2017/18. The Cycling and Walking investment strategy (CWIS) for England will set out a long-term vision for walking and cycling to 2040.

There is a now an urgent 'business need' for local authorities to deliver high quality sustainable transport measures that enable healthier lifelstyles and demonstrate cost-effective good practice

The Sustainable Transport and Health Summit 2017 is the place to learn from local authorities, specialist consultants, stakeholders and change-makers who are delivering successful sustainable transport initiatives, and to pick up new ideas, inspiration and intelligence to take home and deliver in your own context.
