Bike Citizens focuses on cycling promotion, app technology and data analysis for cities. Founded with €1,500 in early 2011 by two former bike couriers, the company now employees over 25 people based in Graz and Berlin. Their main concern is to offer urban cyclists better orientation and safety by offering an app that includes turn-by-turn navigation, tracking options and voice guidance. Most importantly, all cycling data obtained through the app is shared with cities and municipalities, allowing them to better plan projects, infrastructure and research in order to improve cycling in the city. The team designs and develops tools which promote the joy of daily rides through the city and helps municipalities and companies to get more people on bikes.
