TUESDAY 14TH OCTOBER 2008,

NEW CONNAUGHT ROOMS, LONDON

Why you should attend:

This is one of a choice of TWO breakout sessions in the afternoon (you don’t have to decide now – and can mix and match on the day if you wish - but it will help us with seating requirements if you book your conference place via your preferred breakout session)

Modern technology these days can make travelling by public transport more convenient and more enjoyable. Many people now use the internet to plan their journeys by bus and train and also to purchase their ticket. Once on the move, some bus users can have a text message sent to their mobile phone telling them how long they will have to wait for the next bus to arrive at the stop. And if they are travelling on a National Express East Coast train or an Oxford Tube Coach they can use their laptop or PDA to surf the internet throughout their journey. Time stuck on a train or bus can become productive work or leisure time.

This event will look at where this technology has already taken us, and provide many practical examples of how it can enhance the public transport experience of the future.

· Discover how mobile technologies are shaping the future of passenger transport, and helping it turn into a more consumer driven business.

· Meet potential new suppliers and catch up with clients at the exhibition running alongside the conference

· Network with key industry players at the closing drinks reception

This year the Second Annual Public Transport and the Mobile Generation Conference will take place in conjunction with the Second National Rail Ticketing Forum. Both conferences will be accompanied by the new ‘Travel 2020’ exhibition to create an essential event for anyone involved in passenger transport.

Travel 2020 will be a very special and relevant exhibition, featuring companies involved with smart cards and the new era of smart objects, on-board ticket validation and processing, multi-modal automated ticketing, mobile ticketing, e-ticketing and real time passenger information, including the latest manufacturing technology and software systems. This exhibition will also provide an excellent environment for networking.
